Hertfordshire Health Improvement Service - Join a winning team

Hertfordshire Health Improvement Service is a dynamic and successful service with a dedicated multi-skilled team with strong public health leadership.

Over 8000 smokers accessed stop smoking services in the county last year and nearly 5,000 smokers quit!

Do you have what it takes?

Excellent theoretical knowledge of tobacco control, smoking cessation and health improvement and the ability to apply that knowledge to the development and delivery of health improvement services?

You will need exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.

We would welcome an enthusiastic, innovative and experienced graduate with further training in a relevant discipline e.g. health promotion, public health, nursing, pharmacy, health psychology, counselling or smoking cessation.

The successful applicant will have a ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent communication and influencing skills, be a good team player and will uphold Hertfordshire County Council values and behaviours.

The Stop Smoking Specialist will be responsible for delivering stop smoking services and for providing advice, training and support to community based service providers and potential providers to increase the provision of local Stop Smoking Services, particularly in areas of high smoking prevalence and with specific target groups known to have high smoking prevalence. Focus will be on ensuring quality standards, reducing health inequalities and helping to meet challenging smoking cessation targets and supporting Hertfordshire’s Health & Wellbeing strategy.

The post is to cover the Hertsmere locality on a 12 month fixed term contract for 18.5 hours per week.

This post will include some evening and/or weekend work.
