At Barnardo’s, we believe in children. Our purpose is to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children and our vision is to realise Thomas Barnardo’s dream of a world where no child is turned away from the help that they need.
The Pan London service provides direct work with children and young people that go missing and those who are involved in or at risk of sexual exploitation. Much of our work is with high risk and complex cases.
The Missing Service works alongside a number of local authorities completing Return Home Interviews (RHI’S) for young people that have gone missing. These offer the young people the opportunity to talk about what happened while they were missing but also think about why they went missing and exploring support things that can be put in place to help them to keep safer. This post is for a full time practitioner within Wandsworth.
You need to have a sound knowledge about young people at risk of going Missing and the effects on young people and their families. You should also have experience of working with vulnerable young people.
Communication is an essential skill necessary for this work and you will need to be able to communicate with multi-agency professionals to ensure appropriate information is shared. You must have experience in identifying and acting on safeguarding issues and working within the London Child Protection Procedures.
The role is Pan London therefore you must be willing to travel; you will be based in Wandsworth Local Authority team SW18 2PU with team meetings and supervision held at the Pan London Barnardo’s office in Stepney Green, London, E1 3JX.
