West Berkshire has a small and dynamic dedicated team of minerals and waste planners responsible for all aspects of minerals and waste planning within the District.
We are seeking the recruitment of a team leader to assist in the delivery of the functions of the team. These functions include the development of new Minerals and Waste Local Plan for West Berkshire, representing the authority at mineral and waste appeals, judicial reviews and corporate projects.
The team operates in a flexible manner with the resources within the team reacting to the continuous changes in demands placed upon it. We have found that such an approach ensures skills and expertise within the team to be managed effectively and enables staff to maintain areas of expertise and interests, as well as develop new skills and experiences.
The post is based in Council Offices, Market Street, Newbury, but the Council operates a flexible working policy that includes both flexitime and, where appropriate, remote working practices. The posts include essential car user allowance and a car parking space at its Newbury offices.
Commercially and politically aware, experience of delivering a minerals and waste local plan would be desirable but is not a prerequisite for applicants so if you are looking to further your career in planning, or have experience policy planning and are looking to take the next step then we would love to hear from you.
This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
