Islington is a diverse and vibrant inner London borough, which continues to experience a large amount of development and change. We have imaginative planning policies, a positive and open attitude to growth, and a desire to secure development which addresses key local priorities such as maximising the delivery of genuinely affordable housing.
Planning obligations and community benefits are at the heart of planning. We are looking for a dynamic and hardworking individual, to join the Service to lead on the Planning Obligations and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) work streams. You will be responsible for overseeing the administration of and compliance with S106 agreements as well as the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). You will also take the lead on supporting the process of allocating CIL and S106 funds, which are very substantial. This process involves extensive collaboration with elected Members, senior council officers and external organisations. Your main focus will be to contribute towards achieving sustainable development, and ensuring that developer contributions deliver benefits to the local communities. In addition, you will contribute towards infrastructure planning and any future CIL review.
Whilst a background in planning would be desirable, it is not essential, and we would welcome applicants with the background in regeneration, community planning and other relevant fields. You will have strong leadership skills, extensive experience of financial and project management, extensive experience of joint working across different technical disciplines and across complex organisations, and strong IT skills.
The post holder will line-manage a number of staff within the team and deputise for the Service Head from time to time. The post offers a friendly team environment, flexible working hours, generous annual leave and a pension scheme.
Closing date: Wednesday 14 March 2018 at 23:59
