We’re now looking for committed Team Managers to join our Assessment and Short Term Intervention (ASTI) team – people who share our vision of improving the services we offer, and pulling our standards up to the highest levels. We’re currently delivering on ambitious plans for change, but with supportive management, sensible caseloads and the potential to control your own workload and career progression, it’s a really exciting opportunity.

You will be at the helm of everything our dedicated staff are trying to achieve for Birmingham’s most vulnerable children. The young people referred to us are in urgent need of intervention and support, so you will guide your colleagues to complete thorough assessments of their situation, acting quickly to find suitable measures that will keep them safe. That means you will be making some difficult decisions about children in care, but with the tools at your disposal to offer them a good quality of life, these decisions need to be made. You will also be responsible for overseeing the quality of care being offered by your staff, so you will supervise their work and maintain the appropriate legal, regulatory and statutory standards.


To succeed in a role of this magnitude, we need someone who is capable of making tough decisions quickly and efficiently. Quite literally, that means you’ll need to have plenty of experience in a similar environment, having supervised colleagues and successfully promoted a culture of change. With a Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) under your belt, you will be a HCPC-registered professional who is confident enough to be fully accountable for the actions of your team. You will therefore work closely with them and with various agency partners to build an innovative team environment in which your staff are inspired and motivated to always achieve more. Good financial management, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to digest and interpret complex reports are also essential.

If you have 3 years or more post qualifying experience & are joining us from another authority; you will receive a recruitment incentive payment of £3,000 (subject to tax and national insurance deductions).

If you stay with one of our frontline teams for two years and remain with us; on your third year, you will receive a retention payment of £2,400, paid quarterly in your pay package.
