Further Information

Tidemill Academy is a highly successful, energetic and happy school in the heart of Deptford and has an outstanding reputation for being a creative, positive and innovative school at the leading edge of educational reform.  Tidemill is a haven where children from all backgrounds flourish and we achieve this in a buzzing, multicultural area of South East London. Our children not only achieve excellent results – they sleep over at the Science Museum, surf in Devon, compete at the London Youth Games, are djembe drummers, make their own branded chocolate, exhibit at art galleries, set up blogs and perform Shakespeare at the theatre!  They do all this in an award winning building with exceptional facilities.

Tidemill was awarded National Teaching School status in 2013 and is a centre for teaching and learning. We deliver professional development programmes for teachers including the “Outstanding Teacher” and “Towards Excellence” courses, NQT programmes and specialist Speech & Language workshops. We also regularly have visitors from across the world through our links with schools in Spain and China and our work with the British Council.  Many of our teaching assistants have qualified to become Higher Level Teaching Assistants or qualified teachers.

Tidemill Academy is part of the REAch2 Academy Trust, the largest primary-only academy trust in the country which currently has 52 primary academies spread across England.  However, we still maintain the Lewisham pay scales and keep to the same working hours and term-time only percentages……but we now have increased freedoms to ensure that the school is the best it possibly can be for our children and community.
