Whilst also being required to undertake the role of banksman directing the operation of some plant equipment or machinery.</p><p>• Inform management to ensure sufficient levels of stock are maintained. Maintaining regular communications via radio net in accordance with LSS. Liaising with contractors when ordering services, including skip collection.</p><p>• Be responsible for tools and plant machinery, carrying out checks at regular intervals and completing relevant documentation in accordance with Local Security Strategy (LSS) and National Security Framework (NSF).</p><p>• Comply with Health &amp; Safety policies, procedures and legislation to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance.</p><p>• Drive estates vehicles and operate plant equipment, as well as assembling products on site when required.</p><p>• Operate within command mode in line with local contingency plans. <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>Wyre Council is seeking a hardworking and reliable LGV Driver / Labourer to support the delivery of essential frontline environmental services across the borough. This is a key operational role within our Street Cleansing service, helping to keep Wyre clean, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.</p>
<p>You will be responsible for driving LGV vehicles as well as undertaking a range of street cleansing and general labouring duties. The role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and providing a visible, professional presence within local communities.</p>
<p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Drive and operate LGV and other service vehicles safely and efficiently.</li>
<li>Carry out mechanised street cleansing, bin emptying and general cleaning duties.</li>
<li>Provide direction and support to colleagues working alongside the vehicle.</li>
<li>Respond to environmental issues, including the removal and safe disposal of fly‑tipped waste.</li>
<li>Undertake general labouring and loading duties associated with street cleansing operations.</li>
<li>Maintain a vigilant presence across the borough to help deter environmental crime and anti‑social behaviour.</li>
<li>Operate equipment, plant and machinery in line with health and safety requirements.</li>
<li>Act professionally and courteously when always dealing with members of the public.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p>
<p><strong>Essential:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A current, valid LGV class 2 (C) driving licence.</li>
<li>Previous experience working in a street cleaning, street scene or similar operational environment.</li>
<li>Knowledge of health and safety at work and safe working practices.</li>
<li>Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.</li>
<li>Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.</li>
<li>Physically able to undertake outdoor manual duties.</li>
<li>A flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>IOSH Working Safely or equivalent qualification.</li>
<li>CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence).</li>
<li>Experience operating cleansing vehicles, plant or machinery including sweepers</li>
<li>Understanding of good customer care practices.</li>
