Lunchtime Assistant

<h4>Job summary</h4>Please refer to Job Description<h4>Job description</h4>This is a permanent, non-operational role with no prisoner case-level responsibilities. The role will sit within Prison Group Director (PGD) management structures, however, a heavy focus on and presence in establishments will be required (usually with time split between 1-3 prisons depending on complexity and demand at each establishment and local housing landscape) with the expectation that post holders will travel as and when required. There are no line management responsibilities as part of this role, and we do not expect the post holder to have operational experience, although this may be advantageous when working within the establishment. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards the Government’s commitment to eliminate rough sleeping by the end of 2023/24. The post holder will be responsible for a cluster of 1-3 prisons, splitting their time flexibly between the prisons in their portfolio. Prisons that release low numbers to the UK will fall under the ‘consultancy’ category; for these, post holders will be expected to offer ad-hoc housing advice, but these prisons will not form part of their cluster. The post holder will identify areas for improvement with respect to access to accommodation for prison leavers and will work in partnership with key strategic housing stakeholders, probation commissioned rehabilitative services (CRS), and Homelessness Prevention Teams (HPTs) to implement sustainable change. You will ensure that work between each prison and relevant HPTs continues to integrate, and that senior leaders across the agency are supported to improve the quality and use of data. In order to offer informed support and guidance to Governors and their teams, the Strategic Housing Specialist will be required to understand, amongst other aspects, the security category of their base prison and the geographical locations to which prisoners will be released. Prison familiarisation training will be provided to ensure successful candidates have the fundamental knowledge they need to be effective in their roles. About the Role
The Council is looking to recruit someone who is interested in furthering their career in Local Government and able to help us to deliver a high-quality service by providing professional support and advice on tree preservation including contributing to planning applications, appeals and other related arborcultural and landscape issues.&nbsp;
The successful candidate will assist in the analysis of submitted planning applications and supporting information, to determine the impact and inform the planning decision making process and provide advice and guidance to planning officers.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
About You
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate they have either experience or qualifications to deal efficiently and effectively with Tree Preservation Orders, tree work applications, High Hedges and Conservation Area Notices of Intent. The role would particularly suit someone who is looking to build on their existing landscaping and arboriculture knowledge. The successful candidate will be looking to learn and develop in the following areas:

<li>negotiation of improvements to applications and attach appropriate conditions</li>
<li>understanding and communicating risks associated with applications relating to protected trees</li>
<li>understanding the value trees bring to communities</li>
<li>helping to maintain the landscape profile and character of the Borough.&nbsp;</li>

We are seeking a strong individual to bring excellent customer service and high standards to our car parking service. Working across the Borough and within a busy operations office, you will help keep our multi-storey and surface car parks running smoothly, providing excellent customer care under sometimes demanding situations and enforcing parking regulations in our car parks.
You will provide direct customer care from our Main Square car park office either by phone, intercom or face to face. Full training will be given on our ICT systems, payment systems and pay stations. You will be self-confident, have excellent customer facing skills, be practical and presentable, have a current driving license to carry out mobile patrols and hold the relevant qualification (Civil Enforcement Officer Level 2) or be experienced in the knowledge of parking legislation, equipment and enforcement.

Joint Waste Solutions Assistant Monitoring Officer (West)
Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity tackling environmental issues?
This role will help support the management of the joint waste collection and street cleansing contract, driving service improvements and helping residents to understand the recycling service, overcoming any issues they may experience and avoid contaminating their recycling.
At Joint Waste Solutions (JWS), there is an East operations team, managing the services in Elmbridge and Mole Valley and a West operations team who manage services for Surrey Heath and Woking Borough Councils.
In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety of the public by checking the service providers’ staff are complying with the safe systems of work and by conducting crew checks. While ensuring civic pride through monitoring street cleaning, reporting defective levels of cleanliness, and following up to ensure the issue has been rectified.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The successful candidate will have experience of monitoring contracts and using performance management systems as well as experience of providing a good standard of customer care. An understanding of environmental issues as well as a knowledge of health and safety legislation is beneficial but not essential. You’ll need excellent verbal and written communications skills, be able to get involved in a range of projects and deliver them to deadline, as well as a methodological approach to information gathering, recording and reporting.
This vacancy with the West Operations team (Surrey Heath and Woking) is a permanent, part-time position of 22 hours with flexibility to fulfil these hours across the working week.
