Job Introduction

Business and Executive Support is a central business support function which is aligned to meet the requirements of the Council and which fulfils the needs of the organisation as it evolves.

You will would provide support to the Children & Families team who provide support to a wide variety of areas and service managers. The work will involve changing demands and will require effective and accurate communication with a wide range of internal and external customers and extensive use of the Microsoft office suite.

This post is a permanent position 18.5 hours per week, working:

  • Wednesday - 1pm - 5pm (4 hours)
  • Thursday - 8:30am - 5pm (7.5 hours)
  • Friday - 8:30am - 4:30pm (7 hours)


Main Responsibilities

You will provide support by;

  • Supporting the Virtual School Headteacher and team.
  • Processing invoicing.
  • Minuting meetings.
  • Supporting Children's Savings accounts.
  • Transcribing.
  • Other duties include filing, photocopying and postal duties, word processing, preparing and distributing paperwork in addition to liaising with customers, contractors and partners.
The Ideal Candidate

You will have:

  • Qualifications in ICT and NVQ Level 3 in business admin.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage our customers and Administration teams to share best practise using digital solutions where appropriate to improve processes.
  • Ability to work under their own initiative and as a team whilst maintaining a calm approach under pressure.
  • Ability to collate/interpret information from a range of sources.
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment and to manage changes at short notice, with a flexible approach to meet ever changing targets.
  • Strong IT skills with a knowledge of SCC systems or similar packages for data management.
  • Good administrative organisational skills.
  • Minute taking experience.
  • Interested in the work of the service and services for children and families.

Flexibility, problem solving skills, listening skills, a confidential approach and the ability to work to tight deadlines are all vital for this role.

Salary range

  • £26,403 - £27,254 per year
