What You’ll Be Doing

  • Acting as a trusted strategic advisor to the Mayor and senior leadership
  • Developing and delivering proactive communications strategies and campaigns aligned to corporate priorities
  • Building strong relationships with media, stakeholders, partners and influencers
  • Driving positive coverage while effectively managing reputational risks
  • Delivering high-quality internal and stakeholder communications
  • Using data and insight to measure impact and continually improve performance
  • Ensuring a joined-up approach to communications across the organisation and partners
  • Managing budgets and resources to deliver value for money

About You

  • A strong track record of developing and leading impactful campaigns
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to advise senior leaders and influence decision-making
  • Experience managing teams and delivering high performance
  • Strong political awareness, judgement and diplomacy
  • The ability to work at pace, manage competing priorities and deliver results

You’ll also ideally have:

  • Experience working in the public sector or a politically influenced environment
  • Knowledge of local government systems and communications practice
  • A professional qualification such as CIPR or NCTJ

Why Join Us?

  • A chance to shape communications for a mayoral strategic authority
  • Work directly with senior leaders and elected members
  • Lead high-impact campaigns that make a real difference to people and places
  • Be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking organisation

Additional Information

  • This is a politically sensitive role
  • Flexibility is required, including occasional evening and weekend working
