Are you an experienced care professional looking to take the next step in your career?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Team Leader to join our dedicated residential service at 3 Colham Road, supporting adults with learning disabilities to live rewarding, fulfilling and independent lives.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering outstanding person-centred care. You will play a key role in supporting residents to achieve their goals while leading and developing a team of care staff to deliver high-quality support.

As Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational running of the service, ensuring residents receive safe, effective and person-centred support. You will act as a role model for staff, promoting best practice, dignity, independence, choice and inclusion.

You will provide leadership on shift, supervise care staff, coordinate activities and support plans, and work closely with the management team to maintain high standards of care and support.

Working Pattern

  • 36 hours per week.
  • Four-week rolling rota.
  • Duty Senior shifts: 14:00 to 23:00.
  • Two sleep-in duties included within the rota.
  • Day shifts: 08:00 to 15:00 when not working as Duty Senior.
  • Includes weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will:

  • Lead shifts and oversee the daily operation of the service.
  • Provide supervision, support, coaching and direction to care staff.
  • Monitor staff performance and contribute to staff development.
  • Ensure care plans, support plans and risk assessments are implemented and reviewed.
  • Promote independence, choice, dignity and community participation for residents.
  • Support individuals with daily living skills, personal development and achieving personal outcomes.
  • Ensure safe administration and recording of medication.
  • Manage safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate reporting procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate staffing arrangements and assist with rota management to ensure adequate cover.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete reports as required.
  • Conduct audits and quality checks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support new staff through induction, mentoring and practical guidance.
  • Liaise effectively with families, advocates, social workers, healthcare professionals and other agencies.
  • Assist the Registered Manager in maintaining a high-quality service that meets CQC standards and organisational expectations.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities.
  • Previous experience supervising, leading or mentoring care staff.
  • Sound knowledge of person-centred care and positive support approaches.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding adults procedures.
  • The ability to lead a team and make decisions confidently.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience completing care records, support plans and incident reports.
  • A strong commitment to promoting equality, inclusion and independence.

It would also be desirable if you have:

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards this.
  • Supervisory or Team Leader experience within a residential care setting.
  • Knowledge of CQC standards, the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Experience of medication administration and auditing.

What Makes You Successful in This Role?

We are looking for someone who:

  • Leads by example and inspires others.
  • Has a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Builds strong relationships with residents, families and professionals.
  • Supports staff to develop their skills and confidence.
  • Remains calm and organised when managing challenges.
  • Is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Understands the importance of dignity, choice, rights and inclusion.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive induction and training.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
  • Regular supervision and support.
  • Opportunities for career progression.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement.
  • Employee wellbeing support.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities.

Why Join Us?

At 3 Colham Road, we believe people with learning disabilities should have the same opportunities as everyone else to live meaningful, fulfilling and independent lives.

As a Team Leader, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference every day by supporting residents to develop skills, build confidence, access their community and achieve their personal goals.

If you have the skills, experience and commitment to lead a team and support people with learning disabilities to live safe, happy and fulfilling lives, we would love to hear from you.
