The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Croydon Council's Performance, Programmes and Risk Service as a Senior Performance & Intelligence Officer supporting Children, Young People and Education (CYPE). This role sits at the heart of improving outcomes for children and families through the effective use of data, insight and performance management.

Working closely with senior leaders across Children's Social Care, Early Help and Education services, you will provide expert performance analysis and intelligence that informs strategic planning, service improvement and decision-making. You will play a key role in ensuring the council understands how services are performing, where risks are emerging and what action is required to improve outcomes for children and young people.

You will lead on performance reporting, statutory returns, benchmarking and data quality, supporting the department's response to Ofsted, Department for Education requirements and wider improvement priorities. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced performance professional who is passionate about turning data into insight and making a tangible difference to residents' lives.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has significant experience of delivering performance management, analysis and intelligence services within Children's Social Care or a related public sector environment.
  • Possesses specialist knowledge of Children's Social Care performance frameworks, statutory requirements and national policy developments.
  • Has advanced analytical skills and experience of interpreting complex datasets to support evidence-based decision making.
  • Is highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power BI, with experience of extracting, analysing and presenting data from multiple systems.
  • Has experience of maintaining and developing ILACS (Inspections of Local Authority Children’s Services) datasets to support inspection and performance management activity.
  • Can identify performance risks, emerging trends and opportunities for service improvement, providing clear recommendations to senior managers.
  • Has experience of leading the production and submission of statutory returns and ensuring high standards of data quality.
  • Has excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex information to a range of audiences.
  • Can build effective relationships with senior stakeholders and work collaboratively across services and partner organisations.
  • Is proactive, organised and able to manage competing priorities whilst delivering high-quality outputs to demanding timescales.

Why Join Us?

  • A pension scheme with an average employer contribution of 20%.
  • 32 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
  • Investment in your wellbeing and professional development.
  • Opportunity to work with a supportive and collaborative team.
  • A role that directly contributes to improving outcomes for children, young people and families.
  • Hybrid working arrangements, with a minimum of two days per week working from the office or within the Croydon community.

Regretfully we do not anticipate being able to support applicants requiring visa sponsorship.

If you would like to discuss the role in more detail, please contact the Head of Performance and Programmes by email on katie.byles2@croydon.gov.uk

Please note this role may close early dependent on applicant volume and we will not accept applications after the closing date.
