About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Insurance & Sundry Account Officer to join our busy Sundry Accounts Team.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play a key part in delivering a vital frontline service, administering the Council’s Home Contents Insurance Scheme (supporting over 2,000 policyholders), while also managing financial processes including invoices, utility billing for void properties, and a wide range of sundry accounts. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will handle competing priorities, provide excellent customer service, and ensure accuracy in all financial and administrative tasks. We are seeking someone who is organised, numerate and customer-focused, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for customers via phone, email and written communication, providing professional and compassionate support
- Administer all aspects of the Home Contents Insurance Scheme, including policy set-up, amendments, cancellations and claims support
- Manage insurance arrears, working sensitively with tenants to agree repayment arrangements
- Reconcile and process monthly insurance premium payments and liaise with brokers [
- Register and verify housing invoices (average £4 million per month), ensuring compliance with financial regulations
- Investigate and resolve void utility bills, working with suppliers and partners to minimise costs
- Maintain and administer a variety of sundry accounts, including rechargeable repairs and housing-related income streams
- Produce reports, maintain accurate records, and contribute to service improvements and performance monitoring
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience in a financial, administrative, or insurance environment
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and financial systems
- Experience of delivering excellent customer service
- Ability to maintain accurate records and work methodically with data
- Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and solve problems logically
- Experience of working within data protection and financial regulations
