Starting Salary: £57,716 – £86,131 (plus 25% market supplement) – dependent on skills and experience.
Salary package also includes:

The post is for a fixed term of up to four years in the first instance with the possibility of extension. Secondment and Interchange opportunities will be considered.
THE OPPORTUNITY

The Falkland Islands Government has recently granted its first regulatory approval for a field development and production programme, which is expected to start producing oil in 2028. This is an unrivalled opportunity to make an impact as we start our journey as an oil-producing country.
THE ROLE
The Offshore Petroleum Wells Lead is responsible for regulatory oversight of all offshore petroleum activities associated with wells, including integrity, design, drilling operations, and decommissioning. The role involves assessing well designs, drilling programmes, suspension and decommissioning proposals, licence applications, technology plans and emergency response plans, with a strong emphasis on well integrity throughout the lifecycle of each well. The postholder will be the principal regulatory authority for wells, assessing, challenging, and recommending acceptance or refusal of well consents, drilling programmes, and decommissioning plans.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Have significant experience (10+ years) of industry experience in planning, delivery, operations and decommissioning of offshore oil and gas wells.
- Have a proven track record of analysing offshore wells plans and delivery, risks and performance, developing clear recommendations with supporting evidence.
- Have an excellent understanding of current well integrity and well abandonment best practice and well control processes
- Have demonstrable expertise in the complex technical and operation challenges associated with well design, integrity, and abandonment techniques
- Be proficient in risk assessment and mitigation strategies for well decommissioning, along with the key stages of planning and executing this work
- Have a degree in well engineering or other parallel technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Hold a valid IWCF level 4 accreditation and BOSIET (CA-EBS) and MIST certificates
- Hold an OEUK approved offshore workers medical examination
- Possess a valid driving licence.
