This is a full-time, 12-month fixed term position and has a starting salary of £31,659 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

This is a fantastic role for an experienced Outdoor Learning Instructor with an interest in working with Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development's alternative learning provision.

Staff are required to work across all of SOLD's provision.

About the Role

At Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD) we offer our visitors carefully facilitated bespoke programmes in the outdoors, creating positive learning outcomes and experiences. We strive for high quality in everything we do, including health and safety matters, our customer experience, our facilities, our range of services and our staff.

As a Lead Outdoor Learning Instructor, you will be working with a range of groups and individuals, primarily on our alternative learning programmes. These are outcome-based learning programmes to support our customer in areas of personal and social development, academic curriculum and employability skills; using the outdoors as a tool for learning and using reviewing and reflection practices to ensure our customers benefit positively from participating in outdoor learning.

Your Application

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your CV and answers to the questions below will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

  • Experience of outcome led programme delivery, and of working with additional needs, SEN and children / young people at risk of exclusion from school.
  • Experience of managing day to day logistics and resources, supporting staff with inductions, training, and ongoing support; ensuring high quality health and safety working conditions and delivery.
  • Experience of supporting customers in an alternative learning provision or similar setting.
  • Experience of reviewing and providing written feedback to other professional bodies.
  • National governing body qualifications relevant to the role.
