Job summary

The Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards plays a vital role in upholding standards and maintaining public confidence in Parliament. We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Assistant Investigations & Complaints Officer to join our small and dedicated team, supporting the Commissioner’s work in handling investigations, managing stakeholder correspondence and delivering engagement activities across and beyond the Parliamentary community.

Job description

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the UK Parliament, supporting processes that contribute directly to parliamentary accountability and standards. You will work closely with operational Investigation Managers, providing administrative support for investigations, responding to enquiries and correspondence from members of the public and internal stakeholders, and helping to coordinate the Commissioner’s outreach and engagement programme.

The role offers a varied workload in a fast-paced environment and would suit someone who enjoys working with accuracy and discretion, can manage competing priorities, and is comfortable dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office.

Person specification

  • Excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to relay information clearly and concisely to different audiences, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion at all times.
  • Experience of arranging workshops, conferences or similar events.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with experience of prioritizing tasks in a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrates political sensitivity and is able to exercise independent judgement to maintain impartiality. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • The ability to learn a set of rules and apply them to different situations.
