Educational Psychologist – Join Our Growing Team!

Are you passionate about shaping brighter futures for children and young people? Do you thrive on using psychology to create meaningful, positive change? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

We are excited to recruit Educational Psychologists to join our forward-thinking Educational Psychology Service, where your work will directly improve the lives of children and young people aged 0–25 across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Your role will make a real difference by helping children access education, advocating for their needs, and working closely with families, schools, and multi‑agency professionals.

About the Role

As an Educational Psychologist, you will:

  • Apply psychology to improve outcomes, promote inclusion, and support emotional wellbeing for children and young people.
  • Use family‑ and child‑centred approaches, working collaboratively with parents, schools, and partners.
  • Help the Council meet statutory duties for vulnerable children, including those with SEND and disabilities.
  • Stay current with professional practice while managing your workload effectively.
  • Contribute creatively as part of a supportive, collaborative team.
  • Deliver high‑quality traded services to schools, including consultation, assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring.
  • Support inclusive practice through co‑production and a Graduated Response to SEND.
  • Offer professional advice to the SEN Team, including involvement in complex casework and tribunals.
  • Provide safeguarding‑compliant, child‑centred support at all times.
  • Deliver professional development and contribute to critical incident response for educational settings.

Qualifications & Experience

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

Essential Qualifications

  • Honours degree in Psychology or equivalent.
  • A recognised qualification in Educational Psychology (or be currently in training).

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience delivering a broad range of Educational Psychology casework.
  • Experience in delivering training, promoting inclusion, and working with vulnerable children.
  • Strong understanding of psychological assessments, SEND legislation, and multi‑agency working.

Personal Qualities

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Solution‑focused thinking.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Motivation to support others and drive positive outcomes for all children.
  • A commitment to inclusion and valuing diversity.

Job Requirements

  • HCPC registration (or eligibility).
  • Enhanced DBS check with Child Barred List.
  • Ability to travel across the area (use of public transport or full UK driving licence with vehicle access).

Why Join Us?

This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to:

  • Shape the educational journeys of children and young people.
  • Work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Develop professionally through diverse casework and CPD opportunities.
  • Play a central role in promoting inclusion and wellbeing across local communities.

If you’re driven by purpose, committed to collaboration, and passionate about making education work for every child, we’d be thrilled to receive your application.
