What will you be doing?

Make a Difference to Children, Young People and Their Families

We are seeking two full time, enthusiastic, experienced and innovative Children’s Specialist Practitioner – Moving & Handling Trainers to join our dedicated countywide Children’s Occupational Therapy team.

These exciting roles provide an opportunity to lead on the delivery, development and quality assurance of specialist moving and handling training across children's services. You will work collaboratively with families, schools, health and social care professionals to ensure children and young people with complex physical needs are supported safely, effectively and with dignity.

As the lead Moving & Handling Trainers, you will use your specialist knowledge to promote best practice, reduce risk, and improve outcomes for children, young people, their families and the workforce that supports them.

The successful candidates will:

  • Deliver specialist moving and handling training to education, health and social care staff, and family/carers.
  • Assess, develop and review personalised moving and handling plans and passports for children and young people with complex needs.
  • Provide expert advice on moving and handling legislation, risk management, safer systems of work and best practice.
  • Support the selection, implementation and safe use of specialist equipment, including hoists, slings, change bed stretchers, and bathing equipment.
  • Work closely with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, social care practitioners, schools and families to develop child-centred solutions.
  • Lead on audits, quality assurance and governance relating to moving and handling practice.
  • Contribute to service development, policy implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with organisational and professional standards.

Interviews will take place at The Rainbow Centre, Ashford on Monday 27th July.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
