Contract Type: Fixed term contract – 2.5 years

Location: London – West Ham Lane, Stratford

Hours: 35 hours per week
Persona: Agile (20 – 40% office based)
Salary: £23,194 per annum

Introduction

We’re looking for an ambitious and motivated apprentice to join our busy Disrepair team as an Apprentice Disrepair Building Surveyor. This is a great opportunity to start your career in surveying gaining hands-on experience across a varied property portfolio.

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, developing the skills and knowledge needed to support the management and resolution of property issues and repairs (known as disrepair cases), while building your confidence and professional capability.

Overview of the role

As an Apprentice Disrepair Building Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused surveying service across L&Q’s property portfolio. Working alongside experienced surveyors, you’ll assist with property inspections, helping to identify defects, understand their causes, and gather key information such as measurements and photographic evidence.

You’ll be involved in a range of activities to support the management of property issues and repairs (known as disrepair cases), including drafting reports, contributing to schedules of work, and supporting the delivery and quality checking of repairs on site. You’ll also work closely with residents, contractors, and internal teams to help progress cases and deliver positive outcomes, while gaining valuable insight into how projects, compliance, and customer service come together in practice.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will complete a Level 3 Surveying Technician Apprenticeshipdeveloping your technical knowledge and professional skills. You will apply your learning to real cases, build your confidence, and work towards becoming a qualified building surveyor.

With guidance from your manager and mentor you’ll be supported to take on real responsibilities from day one, to help you develop your skills and confidence.

Strong organisation skills are essential to this role as well as effective communication and an understanding of what a first-class customer service skills are.

We are looking for a candidate with resilience, drive, enthusiasm, and a passion to help people.

Please note: You will be expected to work towards holding a full driving licence and access to a vehicle by the end of the apprenticeship if progressing into a permanent role.

Apprenticeship details: Level 3 Surveying Technician Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship entry requirements:

Five GCSEs at Grade 4/Grade C or higher including Maths and English
