Join Richmond & Wandsworth Better Service Partnership and play a key role in delivering innovative, reliable and secure digital services that support vital public services. You'll have the opportunity to work with modern infrastructure technologies, develop your technical expertise, and help shape services that positively impact residents every day.

About the Role

As an Infrastructure Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery, reliability, security and continuous improvement of critical IT infrastructure services that support Richmond and Wandsworth Better Service Partnership. You will work across a diverse and evolving technology estate, helping to maintain high-quality digital services that enable essential council services to be delivered to residents and communities.

You will have the opportunity to manage and enhance modern cloud and infrastructure technologies, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and provide expert technical support within a live operational environment. Working with a high degree of technical autonomy, you will be trusted to resolve complex infrastructure issues, identify opportunities for optimisation, and contribute specialist expertise to infrastructure projects and change programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, driving improvements and working with modern Microsoft technologies in a service focused environment.

What You'll Be Doing

The Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for supporting, maintaining and improving the organisation's infrastructure platforms and services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provisioning, configuring and managing Azure cloud and private cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking and storage.
  • Monitoring infrastructure performance, capacity and costs, identifying risks, trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Implementing and maintaining security controls across infrastructure platforms to ensure compliance and protect critical services.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure incidents and acting as a senior technical escalation point.
  • Designing, developing and maintaining automation solutions and infrastructure-as-code deployments to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation, operational procedures and system configurations.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to colleagues while contributing to service improvement and solution design activities.
  • Supporting infrastructure projects and change initiatives, ensuring solutions are secure, supportable and aligned to agreed standards.
  • Working collaboratively within a live service environment where priorities may change in response to incidents, security issues or operational requirements.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong experience managing and supporting Microsoft Azure and cloud-based infrastructure services within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience working with virtualisation technologies and a sound understanding of enterprise infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Active Directory and supporting associated Microsoft infrastructure services.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud architecture, networking concepts and infrastructure technologies, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience operating with a high degree of technical autonomy in a live service environment, applying professional judgement to manage operational risks and service priorities.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure improvements, automation and operational efficiencies, with the ability to contribute technical expertise to projects and service enhancement initiatives.
