Help shape the future of homelessness services in Brent Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here. The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us. The Post

Reduce temporary accommodation. Unlock housing solutions. Deliver real impact.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high‑impact homelessness reduction initiatives that improve outcomes for residents while supporting the council to reduce its reliance on costly temporary accommodation.

As a Temporary Accommodation Specialist Project Officer, you will support the delivery of fast‑paced, operational programmes that help households move into settled accommodation more quickly — from coordinating the mobilisation of newly acquired homes to progressing targeted move‑on activity for households in high‑cost placements.

This is not a traditional back‑office role. You will work across frontline services, housing supply, data, and operational delivery — ensuring activity is well coordinated, barriers are addressed, and progress is maintained at pace.

We are looking for a proactive, organised, and solutions‑focused individual to support the delivery of key homelessness reduction and temporary accommodation transformation programmes across Brent.

Working within Housing Needs & Support, you will play a central coordination role, ensuring projects and casework are progressed efficiently, performance is tracked, and outcomes are delivered.

You will:

Support the delivery of programmes that reduce the use and cost of temporary accommodation

Help households move into suitable long‑term housing more quickly by progressing cases and removing barriers

Coordinate the mobilisation of newly acquired or leased properties, ensuring they are brought into use without delay

Work closely with Housing Needs & Support, Property Services, Housing Management, landlords, and external partners to maintain delivery momentum

Track performance, maintain project plans, and produce reports to support governance and decision‑making

Use data and insight to identify priority cohorts, high‑cost placements, and opportunities for accelerated move‑on

Support innovative housing solutions, including private rented sector access and supported accommodation pathways

Contribute to housing forums, engagement sessions, and “Find a Place” initiatives to help residents access sustainable housing

This is a delivery‑focused role where you will support both operational activity and programme coordination, ensuring tangible and measurable outcomes are achieved.

The Person

You will have experience of homelessness or temporary accommodation services and be confident working in a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused environment where coordination, organisation, and follow‑through are critical.

You will bring:

Experience working in homelessness, temporary accommodation, or housing services within a local authority or similar setting

Experience supporting delivery of initiatives that improve outcomes and reduce temporary accommodation use or cost

Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain momentum

Good analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, track performance, and support evidence‑based decision‑making

Experience of working collaboratively with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders

A proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Most importantly, you will be a motivated team player, resilient and adaptable, with a strong commitment to improving housing outcomes for residents and delivering results at pace.

Make your impact where it matters most

Join Brent and play a key role in supporting innovative homelessness solutions that make a lasting difference for residents and communities.

Why join us?

We know people achieve their best when they feel valued. At Brent, you’ll benefit from:

  • Up to 33 days annual leave (depending on length of service) plus bank holidays
  • Excellent pension with generous employer contributions (LGPS)
  • Hybrid and flexible working options available for most roles
  • Supportive family-friendly policies for parent, guardians, and carers
  • Health and wellbeing support, including access to eye test support and a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
  • Financial support such as education sessions, childcare deposit loans, and season ticket loans
  • Travel perks including affordable parking nearby, a Cycle to Work scheme, and great onsite facilities
  • Learning and development opportunities to help you grow your career
  • Access to My Brent Rewards with exclusive discounts on shopping, travel, leisure, and entertainment
