Transport
£13.45 per hour
Job Introduction

Make a difference every day with Telford & Wrekin Council's Transport Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join Telford & Wrekin Council's Transport Team, responsible for delivering safe, reliable, sustainable and innovative transport services that provide excellent value for money to residents across the borough.

We are looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our team of Casual Drivers. In this rewarding role, you will be responsible for operating minibuses that provide specialist transport services for a wide range of passengers, including children with special educational needs, adults with disabilities, social care clients and members of the public accessing bespoke transport services.

This is a varied and fulfilling role where no two days are the same. You'll work with a dynamic range of people, building positive relationships with passengers, families, carers, schools, care providers, passenger assistants and colleagues, while helping people access education, care and essential services safely and comfortably.

A D1 licence is desirable; however we also welcome applications from individuals who are willing to work towards obtaining this qualification, with a commitment to developing the skills required for the role.

As a Driver, you will play a key role in supporting passengers throughout their journey, working closely with Passenger Assistants and the Passenger Transport Office Team to ensure the safety, comfort and dignity of every passenger is maintained at all times.

The role usually operates on a split-shift basis, with typical working hours of:

  • Morning shift: 7:15am – 9:30am
  • Afternoon shift: 2:30pm – 4:15pm

This working pattern is perfect for those who enjoy having time available during the day, whether for family commitments, study, hobbies or other employment.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication and organisational skills, a positive and flexible attitude, and a strong commitment to delivering high standards of customer care. You will be a reliable team player who enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds and takes pride in making a positive difference within the community.

If you're looking for a flexible, rewarding role where you can make a genuine impact on the lives of local people, we'd love to hear from you.

For further information on the role please click on the links below to view the job description and person specification.

Along with your application please also submit a supporting statement outlining how you meet the Person Specification.
