Our work helps organisations create safer, healthier environments where colleagues, service users, pupils and communities can thrive.

As our Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager, you'll play a pivotal leadership role within our management team, driving excellence across our Children & Families and Health & Care Directorates, as well as our Joint Venture Company, Entrust. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a team of dedicated Health & Safety Advisors, coaching and mentoring them to deliver outstanding customer service and professional expertise.

You'll have the chance to influence strategic direction, lead service improvement projects, analyse health and safety performance trends, and help shape innovative solutions that strengthen compliance, wellbeing and customer outcomes. Working closely with the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, you'll also contribute to business growth, expanding our reach and reputation while ensuring our services continue to meet the highest standards.

    Main Responsibilities

    You will be involved in

Including supporting emergency incident management within the council.
    3. Policy Development: Develop and implement health, safety, and wellbeing policies, operating procedures, and management tools to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance and support organisational objectives.
    4. Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners (e.g., NHS, Local Resilience Forum, UKHSA, DHSC, DFE, HSE, and other enforcement bodies) to ensure effective information sharing and risk management.
    5. Learning and Development: Identify, develop, and deliver learning and development opportunities on health, safety, and wellbeing topics to ensure managers have the required knowledge and skills.
    6. Operational Management: Lead the operational management of health, safety & wellbeing service within Children & Families, Health and Care and Entrust, ensuring quality of service, commercial benefits, and supporting traded growth.

    • Substantial experience in creating and maintaining effective and influential networks that collaboratively shape and deliver better health, safety, and wellbeing outcomes.
