Job summary

We are recruiting for a Head of Resourcing to join our Resourcing team.

The Head of Resourcing will lead the development and delivery of Ofsted’s resourcing strategy, ensuring the organisation attracts, recruits, and retains the talent needed to deliver its strategic priorities. Working closely with directors and senior leaders, the post holder will shape workforce planning activity across inspection and corporate functions, providing expert advice on attraction, recruitment, and onboarding. They will oversee the delivery of recruitment across Senior Civil Service (SCS), inspection and Administrative, Professional and Technical (APT) roles, including high-volume campaigns, while driving continuous improvement in recruitment practices, employer branding, and candidate experience.

As Ofsted’s senior resourcing expert, the successful candidate will build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, using insight and workforce data to influence decision-making and support future workforce needs. They will champion diversity and inclusion throughout the recruitment lifecycle, ensuring fair and effective hiring practices that broaden talent pools and improve representation. As a member of the People Group Senior Leadership Team, they will contribute to wider workforce and organisational challenges, providing strategic leadership that supports Ofsted’s long-term objectives.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours, Experience and Technical skills.

Application and Shortlisting:

The selection panel will assess your application based on your evidence you have provided against the essential criteria as set out in the job specification.

Use the STAR model (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to present your evidence.

You will also be asked to provide information within the “Employer/Activity History” section of the application form. This information is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV setting out your career history (this may be used in the sifting process).

Assessment and Interview:

Candidates who pass the benchmark at the shortlist stage will be invited to an assessment and interview where you will be assessed against a mixture of the Civil Service behaviours and on the technical/experience skills as detailed in the job specification.

Assessment and Interviews will be held during the week commencing 10 August 2026 at Piccadilly Gate, Manchester.
