Public Health Programme Lead – Sexual Health (Population Health, Prevention & Strategy)

Hours: Full-time, 36 hours

Contract: Permanent

Salary: BR14 (£50,867 - £54,584)

Job Summary

Join Bromley's ambitious and forward-thinking Public Health Team as our Public Health Programme Lead – Sexual Health, a key role that will shape the future of sexual health prevention, strategy and partnership working across the borough.

Lead Strategic Improvement
Drive the development and delivery of Bromley's sexual health priorities, helping to improve outcomes, reduce inequalities and strengthen prevention across the life course.

Work with partners across Bromley, South East London and London-wide networks to develop innovative, evidence-based approaches to sexual health improvement.

Make a Real Impact on Population Health
Use public health intelligence, needs assessments and population insights to identify priorities and improve services for residents, particularly those experiencing the greatest health inequalities.

Work in a Collaborative Environment
Partner with NHS organisations, voluntary sector agencies, community groups, commissioners and wider local authority services to deliver joined-up solutions.

Main Duties of the Job

What you'll do

Lead Strategy and Programme Delivery
Lead the delivery of local sexual health strategies and programmes, ensuring they are informed by evidence, data and best practice.

Build Strong Partnerships
Coordinate multi-agency partnerships across health, local government and voluntary sector organisations to strengthen prevention and improve outcomes.

Reduce Health Inequalities
Identify priority populations and develop targeted approaches to reach underserved and high-need communities.

Support Commissioning and Quality Improvement
Provide public health expertise to commissioning, mobilisation and contract monitoring activities, ensuring services remain responsive to local need.

Use Evidence to Drive Improvement
Apply epidemiological analysis, needs assessments and public health evidence to shape future service development and identify opportunities for innovation.

Provide Leadership and Expertise
Support colleagues and stakeholders through effective leadership, project management, facilitation and partnership working.

About You

You are an experienced public health professional with a strong understanding of sexual health, prevention and population health improvement. You are motivated by improving outcomes for residents and can work effectively across complex systems and partnerships.

Person Specification

Essential Experience

  • Recent significant experience in public health programmes, strategy or service development relating to sexual health.
  • Experience of developing and influencing policy or strategic decision-making.
  • Experience of working within multi-agency partnerships.
  • Experience of working within or alongside Local Authority Public Health services.

Essential Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continued professional development, relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent training/experience.
