About this job

Reset Partner

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to join a new bold initiative designed to dramatically change the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in England today for the better.

Reset is an innovative and creative programme designed to break the cycle that leads vulnerable children to be deprived of their liberty because of the harm they face. It provides an intensive package of therapeutic, practical and behavioural support through an integrated model. As part of the programme, young people will have access to a Reset retreat, a short stay in Reset residential provision, and a tailored support plan

We are looking for committed, experienced and tenacious practitioners to form part of a small team to deliver a unique 18 month Reset pilot. You will need to be rooted in practice, with experience of working at a frontline level with vulnerable adults and children.

Working as a key member of the Reset Team, you will provide high‑quality support for children subject to Deprivation of Liberty Orders. You will work systemically and developmentally, showing an aptitude for building positive relationships, affecting sustainable change in the lives of young people and their key supporting networks. You and the young people you work with will benefit from you working flexibly in line with Barking & Dagenham’s flexible working policy, and you will be part of a team on-call rota.

This is a unique opportunity to support a bold, pioneering programme that is reshaping practice.

There will be an opportunity to join a teams meeting Webinar for further information on the role on Tuesday, 7th July at 2pm – 3pm. Please contact Abi (details below) if you would like to be included.

Interviews for this role will take place the week commencing 27th July 2026.

The closing date for this role is Sunday 19th July 2026.

About the role

You will be responsible for a small caseload of 3-4 children, working over an 18 month period. The role will entail intensive outreach working, requiring for you to be persistent and creative in your approach. You will take the lead on building relationships with children and their key supporting networks.FLE

What you will bring

  • A broad range of skills, knowledge and experience gained in services that address and challenge social exclusion.
  • The ability to work confidently across disciplines and collaborate with a wide range of professionals.
  • A strong understanding of the vulnerabilities affecting young people subject to Deprivation of Liberty Orders.

Relevant backgrounds

We welcome applicants from a range of intersecting professional backgrounds, including social work, community development, youth work, clinical or therapeutic practice, substance misuse services and criminal justice. Relevant lived experience that strengthens your understanding of the challenges facing these young people is also valued.

Special requirements for this post

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants including an Enhanced Children’s Department of Barring Services check.

The role requires participation in a team on-call rota and flexible working outside standard hours to meet the needs of children and families. Any additional hours worked as part of the on-call rota or out of hours activity will be subject to prior authorisation and remunerated in line with the Council’s overtime arrangements.

Application Process

Please upload your CV and a supporting statement detailing how your skills, experience, and qualifications align with the criteria specified in the Job Description (JD).

About us

In Barking and Dagenham, we are ambitious for our children, young people and families. Our Children’s Care and Support Service is delivering a bold transformation programme to redesign practice, strengthen early intervention and ensure services are sustainable, high‑quality and fit for the future.

You will join a values‑led organisation that promotes inclusion, innovation and continuous improvement, and one that is committed to equality, diversity, wellbeing and excellent people management.
