About the Role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority at a pivotal moment in its development.

As Head of Communications, you’ll lead how we communicate with and engage our audiences-reaching over 1.1 million residents, 39,000 businesses and 32 million visitors each year. You will shape our voice, strengthen our reputation and ensure our work is clearly understood and valued.

Working closely with the Mayor, senior leadership team and partners, you will be a strategic advisor on all communications matters, helping to deliver impactful, creative and insight-led campaigns that support our ambitions for growth and prosperity across Greater Lincolnshire.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and managing a high-performing communications team covering press, digital, campaigns, events and internal communications
  • Acting as a trusted strategic advisor to the Mayor and senior leadership
  • Developing and delivering proactive communications strategies and campaigns aligned to corporate priorities
  • Building strong relationships with media, stakeholders, partners and influencers
  • Driving positive coverage while effectively managing reputational risks
  • Delivering high-quality internal and stakeholder communications
  • Using data and insight to measure impact and continually improve performance
  • Ensuring a joined-up approach to communications across the organisation and partners
  • Managing budgets and resources to deliver value for money

About You

We’re looking for an experienced communications leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in a senior communications role
  • A strong track record of developing and leading impactful campaigns
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to advise senior leaders and influence decision-making
  • Experience managing teams and delivering high performance
  • Strong political awareness, judgement and diplomacy
  • The ability to work at pace, manage competing priorities and deliver results

You’ll also ideally have:

  • Experience working in the public sector or a politically influenced environment
  • Knowledge of local government systems and communications practice
  • A professional qualification such as CIPR or NCTJ

Why Join Us?

  • A chance to shape communications for a mayoral strategic authority
  • Work directly with senior leaders and elected members
  • Lead high-impact campaigns that make a real difference to people and places
  • Be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking organisation

Additional Information

  • This is a politically sensitive role
  • Flexibility is required, including occasional evening and weekend working
