Job summary

Join our Grazing Team in the Crofting Commission and use your communication and analytical skills to make a meaningful impact supporting rural communities.As a Grazings Officer, you will join the Crofting Commission’s Grazings team, working within an organisation dedicated to supporting Scotland’s crofting communities. The team’s mission is to oversee and support the effective management of over 1,000 common grazings, promoting sustainable grazing practices alongside environmental and climate objectives.

You will provide advice and guidance to grazings committees and shareholders, manage enquiries, process applications, support training delivery and occasionally visit grazings to engage directly with stakeholders. The core objective of the role is to ensure grazings are effectively managed, supporting compliance while fostering strong, collaborative relationships across the crofting community.

Job description

  • Respond to grazings related enquiries.
  • Support grazings committees and shareholders in a range of situations which will involve providing advice based on legislative requirements and good practice.
  • Processing grazings related regulatory applications.
  • Perform shareholder investigations to establish correct share positions.
  • Assist in creating new regulations for common grazings.
  • Liaise with the regulatory team on cases where grazings expertise is required.
