Full time Deputyship Officer - Managing Other People’s Money Team

The Managing other People’s Money Team are looking to recruit a new Deputyship Officer to manage a caseload of DWP Appointeeship and Court of Protection cases.

This role will suit someone who is people-centred and wants a rewarding job improving the lives of vulnerable adults who are unable to manage their own financial affairs because they may be severely disabled, struggle with addiction, or lack mental capacity. With a demanding caseload you will need to be highly organised and be able to juggle different priorities, as you’ll be administering the day-to-day finances of approximately fifty people.

You’ll need to ensure they are in receipt of the correct welfare benefits, savings are safeguarded and money is spent in the person’s best interests. Requests for money can be numerous and varied, so you’ll have to work with your clients to develop affordable spending plans that promote independence. You’ll need to be an excellent communicator, and you’ll need an aptitude for figures as the people you’ll be helping will depend on you to get things right. Also, records will need to be kept to a high standard, reflecting accurate and up-to-date information.

Visiting people in their own homes is an important part of the role, so you’ll need to hold a valid driving licence and have access to a car.

You’ll join an established team of skilled and motivated individuals working jointly with colleagues across Adult Social Care and BCP Council.

If you’re interested in being part of this invaluable service and you have the skills and attributes we are looking for, we would like to hear from you.
