About the role

At Hammersmith & Fulham, we are ambitious in reforming the council to ensure this is a place for everybody. Within the Economy department, we aim to be efficient in everything that we do. We believe our residents deserve a place that is safe, clean and green, with high quality services they can rely on.

The purpose of this role is to provide strong leadership to staff and overseeing operational management to a team of sheltered neighbourhood officers to ensure the delivery of a proactive and responsive housing management service to 1000 sheltered residents. This includes overseeing tenancy management, voids and lettings, antisocial behaviour management, home visits and wellbeing checks, and ensuring that the officers work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the right support is in place for our residents.

You will have a firm operational grip of the teams’ outputs and performance, using reports to monitor performance and take appropriate action at team and individual level where improvements are needed. You will be leading through a period of change, motivating and inspiring your teams while delivering a culture of ownership, responsibility and accountability.

You will ensure that your service provides value for money while delivering safe and sustainable communities. You will be responsible for overall budget management for neighbourhood and community services, analysing and advising on the financial impact of property management, delivering services within the budget envelop and producing periodic budget monitoring information.

You will make sure that we are getting the basics right, adopting a learning culture and working cross-team to deliver continuous service improvement. You will use business intelligence to transform and improve our service delivery, processes and procedures.

You will be responsible for making sure that your teams meet set KPIs, attend and embed relevant learning and development programmes and act in accordance with our values and competencies.

You will ensure, through appropriate strategic governance and operational leadership, that the service meets the current and future business needs of the Council.

Our mission is to be the best council. To do this we need the best people to help build our vision. If you’re looking to develop your career in a fast-paced, professional environment whilst making a difference, then we look forward to hearing from you.

Please refer to the Role Profile for more information.
