Project Manager/Rheolwr Prosiect

£35,382 - £41,500 per year

Job summary

Project Manager - 12-month FTC

At The National Lottery Community Fund, we are driven by our strategy, ‘It starts with community’ and its four community-led missions, as well as our equity-based approach to tackling poverty, discrimination and disadvantage.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK Portfolio at an ambitious moment of shaping the next phase of our delivery. We are looking for one person to join the UK Portfolio Team as Project Manager for 12 months.

Job description

The UK Portfolio supports the ambitions and potential of communities across the UK. We focus on scaling projects with a UK-wide benefit, through significant investments, which enable systems-level change for communities. Our funding is intended to complement the work of other country portfolios: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales .

We are seeking an organised and proactive Project Manager to support the delivery of a complex programme of work over the next 12 months. The successful candidate will be highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools and skilled at building and maintaining project plans, governance processes, and documentation, including risk, issue, and decision logs.

You will lead agile approaches to project oversight, coordinating activity across teams, functions, and seniority levels to ensure progress is effectively tracked and barriers are addressed. You will identify emerging risks, opportunities, and dependencies, escalating issues appropriately and facilitating timely decision-making. Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide high-quality reporting, insights, and project management support to drive successful delivery of programme objectives.

This role requires excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills, alongside the ability to balance attention to detail with a focus on outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and monitor project plans, milestones and dependencies to support successful delivery.
  • Establish and maintain effective project governance, including risk, issue, action and decision logs.
  • Lead agile approaches to project oversight, ensuring delivery remains focused on priorities and outcomes.
  • Coordinate activity across teams, functions and organisational levels, ensuring alignment and timely progress.
  • Identify emerging risks, barriers, dependencies and opportunities, escalating and addressing them appropriately.
  • Facilitate project meetings documenting actions and following through on delivery.
  • Track progress against agreed objectives, highlighting variances and recommending corrective action where required.
  • Promote effective project management disciplines, tools and ways of working across the programme.
  • Build positive working relationships with stakeholders and support collaboration across teams.

You will be an experienced project manager, adept at both building and maintaining the required relationships to successfully deliver complex projects and the enabling processes and tools.

You will be comfortable setting up new process and using agile techniques to bring teams together, track progress, flag emerging issues and seek resolutions.

You will be experienced in supporting senior leaders to produce regular reporting.

You’ll be joining a dynamic and welcoming geographically dispersed team, working with hugely important and fascinating projects that are responding to and addressing a wide range of topics across the Fund’s four community-led missions.

Due to our dispersed nature as a team, it is expected that there will be occasional travel in order to connect with colleagues, stakeholders and projects. This is likely to be one to two occasions per month.

Interview details:

  • Date: 13 August 2026
  • Format: Online
  • Location:UK Wide

We have a hybrid approach to working. Work pattern and location will be agreed with the successful candidate. The role can be based at any of our UK offices: Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, and Newtown.
