Job Description

Organisation: Leicestershire County Council

Work Location: County Hall, Glenfield, LE3 8RA

Salary: £32,070 - £34,359 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

Are you passionate about building relationships and keeping families together and preventing children from entering care then our team is looking for you to join us.

Join our dynamic edge of care team, Families Together and make a real difference. You’ll work intensively with children, young people and families at risk of entering care, building strong relationships and supporting families to create safe, sustainable change.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated and ambitious family intervention workers who are focused on working towards positive outcomes for the children and families we support.

As a family intervention worker, you will co-work allocations of children and young people 11-18 this may be with social workers within our service or held in other areas of children and families. You will also support our 16/17 homelessness pathway alongside our amazing social workers.

We work intensively which may involve multiple contacts with the family per week, as such we have a reduced caseload to reflect this.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • NNEB/BTEC/NVQ level 3 in relevant child care or Experience of direct intervention with children and/or families, identifying strengths within the family and wider network.
  • Ability to provide clear and honest communication holding expectations for improvement and explain boundaries/consequences if changes are not achieved
  • Committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and families, whilst understanding complexities such as mental health factors, neurodivergence, impact of domestic abuse, consideration of child/teenage development and exploitation.
  • Is able to demonstrate the need for persistence, reliability, and flexibility, with the ability to respond quickly to changing needs
  • Open and honest communication with families, being able to offer a High Challenge and High support approach whilst being respectful and empathetic utilising our signs of safety framework
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with families and professionals to achieve shared goals with the ability to develop and implement clear plans to sustain progress after service involvement ends
  • Able to complete clear, concise and effective case recording, with use of systems involved.
