Floating Neighbourhood Housing Officer

We are currently recruiting a Floating Neighbourhood Housing Officer to join our high-performing Neighbourhood Housing Team and help deliver excellent housing services across Tower Hamlets.

This is a dynamic and flexible role where the successful candidate will be deployed across one of our 22 neighbourhood patches, and TMOs based on service demand. This includes supporting high-volume areas, covering staff absences, and filling temporary vacancies to ensure continuity of service delivery.

About the role

As a Floating Neighbourhood Housing Officer, you will take responsibility for managing a designated neighbourhood patch as required, delivering high-quality, customer-focused housing and estate management services. You must be adaptable, resilient, and able to quickly build relationships with residents and colleagues across different teams.

You will be expected to:

  • Manage neighbourhood patches to a high standard, engaging with residents and carrying out regular estate inspections
  • Proactively address hazards and ensure fire risk assessment actions are completed
  • Deliver efficient lettings in line with local and national performance targets
  • Support and sustain tenancies, helping prevent homelessness through early intervention
  • Identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding concerns, working in partnership with relevant agencies to protect vulnerable residents
  • Manage and respond to hoarding cases, ensuring appropriate interventions, support, and risk management plans are put in place
  • Respond effectively to domestic abuse (DA) cases, providing a sensitive and coordinated approach, including referrals to specialist services and safeguarding measures
  • Carry out all aspects of tenancy management in a professional and sensitive manner
  • Manage complex cases involving residents with additional needs
  • Take enforcement action where required, including breaches of tenancy, unauthorised occupation, successions, and court attendance
  • Communicate effectively with residents in a range of situations, including challenging and sensitive circumstances
  • Work to performance targets and manage competing priorities effectively
  • Use housing management systems such as Northgate (SX3) and Contact Manager

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who:

  • Is committed to delivering excellent customer service
  • Has strong housing management experience
  • Has experience or understanding of safeguarding, domestic abuse, and complex needs cases (including hoarding)
  • Is flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work across multiple neighbourhoods
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and effective decision-making
  • Can manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment

Our offer to you

In return, we provide a range of excellent benefits, including:

  • 27 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • A generous career-average pension scheme
  • Cycle to Work scheme and interest-free loans (season tickets, technology)
  • Access to a wide range of retail, gym, and restaurant discounts
  • Staff networks and forums to ensure your voice is heard
  • Modern, refurbished office spaces with facilities
  • Flexible and blended working arrangements
  • A diverse and inclusive working environment

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and guarantee interviews for disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria.
