Job description

This post is responsible for the management of the St Helena Customs and Immigration Services and will lead the transition from separate Customs and Immigration services to a combined Department, ensuring effective integration between all functions and services within the two teams.
This is a key role in delivering our overarching vision of making St Helena a great place to live, learn, work, visit and invest.
Heads of Function are integral to supporting the overall financial resilience of the Public Service and have a responsibility to ensure value for money and return in investment within their Service and across the Public Service as a whole.

Person specification

A Level 5 or 6 (degree) qualification or equivalent level of demonstrable attainment or experience Substantial experience as a senior manager within the UK Border Force (or Customs or Immigration services) or equivalent level of demonstrable attainment or experience in a UK Overseas Territory.
Up to date knowledge of customs and immigration issues.
Experience of providing customs and/or immigrations services at airports and seaports. Successful experience of planning and implementing change. High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and manage team(s) sand articulate the vision for the service.

Couple £ 18,400 per annum,
Couple plus £ 22,200 per annum, Travel & Leave: An entitlement to 30 days leave per annum, inclusive of overseas leave. Fare-paid travel, at economy class, will be paid by the Public Service at the start and end of contract and for midterm leave for the employee, plus dependants (spouse/partner plus up to 3 children if accompanying the post holder). Plus Relocation allowance, pension contribution, freight allowance.
