About The Service

Safe and Resilient Communities exists to create safe, resilient, and thriving communities by enabling coordinated and asset‑based approaches that reduce inequalities, prevent escalation of need, and improve the life chances of residents.

Through strategic collaboration with leisure providers and community partners, the service also supports the delivery of inclusive sport, active living, and community hub activities that promote wellbeing and widen access for all. Overall, the service acts as a strategic enabler, bringing partners together to deliver coordinated, preventative, and community‑focused outcomes.

About The Role

Druridge Bay Fitness Centre and Rothbury Fitness Centre are important community facilities, providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities to be physically active, improve their health and enhance their wellbeing. As key hubs within the local community, the centres play a vital role in supporting healthier lifestyles and reducing health inequalities.

To support the day-to-day running of each facility, we are recruiting for Gym Instructors on a Bank contract to provide operational cover as required. This is a varied, customer-facing role where you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality fitness service, ensuring customers can exercise safely and confidently within the gym environment.

As a Gym Instructor, you will carry out gym inductions, provide expert fitness advice and guidance, and support to members.

The role also involves maintaining a safe and clean environment, ensuring all equipment is used correctly and is well maintained, and adhering to all health and safety procedures. Working closely with the wider team, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the centre, support the delivery of fitness activities, and help promote the full range of services available.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about health and fitness, enjoy working with people, and are committed to delivering excellent customer service within a community-focused environment.

Experience of working with the community

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
