About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a varied and impactful portfolio of engineering projects across the borough.
You’ll be responsible for:

<li>Managing and developing the Engineering team and associated budgets 
</li>
<li>Leading projects covering car parking, drainage, land management, and more 
</li>
<li>Advising on flood risk and working closely with partners such as the Environment Agency and Kent County Council 
</li>
<li>Overseeing winter maintenance, bridge inspections, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure</li>

You’ll work from our Kings Hill offices, with flexibility to work remotely and regular opportunities to be out on-site across the borough.
About You
You’ll hold a degree or HND in Civil Engineering and have a full UK driving licence. While previous managerial experience is an advantage, we’re open to applications from technically strong candidates who are ready to develop their leadership skills with our support.

We are looking for someone who can independently assess under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and ensure care arrangements follow the law. We need someone who has good communication and relationship building skills, is adept at working alongside individuals, their families and/or advocates and partner agencies, and be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of The Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, Mental Health Act and Data Protection Act.
You must hold a current DoLS Best Interests Assessor (BIA) qualification, have at least 2 years experience of carrying out the Best Interest Assessor role which includes recent experience of completing these assessments (within the last year).&nbsp; You must also have undertaken annual DoLS/BIA legal update training within the last twelve months.&nbsp; A driving licence is crucial for this role.

Key responsibilities

<li>Responsible for leading the development, implementation and strategic direction of the Councils application estate</li>
<li>Act as an enabler for continual improvement initiatives across application services</li>

Our service ensures the safe collection of waste throughout the district. As HGV Driver/Loader you’ll take ownership and be responsible for your round ensuring that it is completed to the best possible standard.

As our new Housing Policy and Enforcement Manager, you’ll lead a dedicated team of four, which includes one Housing Enabling Officer, two Senior Private Sector Housing Officers, and one Private Sector Housing Support Officer, alongside indirect line management of external contractors. What you will be doing
<ul>
<li>Leading the Housing Policy and Enforcement team, managing officers and external contractors to deliver the Council’s housing priorities.</li>
<li>Developing and delivering the Council’s Housing Strategy, Empty Homes Strategy, and Private Sector Housing Grant and Enforcement Policies.</li>
<li>Supporting and enabling affordable housing delivery through strategic partnerships with Registered Providers, Homes England and health sector organisations.</li>
<li>Driving improvements in private sector housing, including the use of enforcement powers, licensing schemes, and grant delivery (e.g. Disabled Facilities Grants).</li>
<li>Overseeing the development and consultation of housing policy, ensuring plans are evidence-led and responsive to local need.</li>

What you will bring to the role

The Role

As Head of Service (Safeguarding and Quality Assurance) you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people who access support from our service and their families. With overall responsibility for the strategic leadership and direction of Safeguarding, Quality and Practice across all service areas within children’s social care, you will play a critical role in driving forward service improvement and innovation, helping to ensure high-quality outcomes are achieved for our children and young people from birth to 25 years.

You should have experience of assisting with the delivery of SuDS and other Civil Engineering projects. This may include feasibility, surveys, design, site supervision, project management or contract administration. You will be required to work on your own initiative with responsibility for making day to day decisions in order to deliver your projects and work programmes. However, you will be under the guidance of your Principal Engineer and other senior members of the team. You should have the ability to effectively communicate with residents and other third parties and capable of dealing with relevant queries. You must also be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be able to prioritise workloads and be adaptable to change. You should be qualified with at least a Degree/HNC or equivalent experience.

Collection and loading of refuse and recycling in wheeled bins and bags
</li>
<li>
Operating compactors and loaders
</li>
<li>
Walking 10 miles per day on designated rounds
</li>
<li>
Working efficiently in a team delivering consistently high standards
</li>
<li>
Excellent customer care skills
</li>
<li>
Follow Health &amp; Safety procedures and codes of practice
</li>
</ul>
About you: This is an outdoor job, which requires effective team working, so it’s important that you work well with others and are flexible in your approach to work.&nbsp;

The ideal candidate should be prepared for physically demanding manual work.
</li>
<li>
You will be working in all weathers and must have a can do and flexible attitude.
</li>
<li>
