About the role:
Horsham District Council is looking for a detail-focused and organised individual to join our Housing team as a Housing Services Assistant and help us make a difference in people’s lives.
As a Housing Services Assistant, you will coordinate emergency housing placements for households in need, liaise with accommodation providers, and keep accurate records. You will also process invoices, set up suppliers, manage rent accounts, and assist with housing benefit claims—ensuring our services run smoothly and efficiently.
The position is full-time and the post holder is required to working 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday.

About the Role
We are seeking a strong individual to bring excellent customer service and high standards to our car parking service. Working across the Borough and within a busy operations office, you will help keep our multi-storey and surface car parks running smoothly, providing excellent customer care under sometimes demanding situations and enforcing parking regulations in our car parks.
You will provide direct customer care from our Main Square car park office either by phone, intercom or face to face. Full training will be given on our ICT systems, payment systems and pay stations. You will be responding to customer concerns over their accommodation and proactively improving their housing conditions by obtaining the necessary repairs and improvements. Given the proposals in the Renters Rights Bill, a more proactive enforcement approach will be essential for this role. HMO licencing of properties will be undertaken, along with the investigations of any condition breaches.&nbsp;
You will also administer a small number of complex DFGs which promote independence within the homes of disabled and vulnerable residents. You must be able to form relationships with other council teams such as Housing Advice, as well as customers, contractors, landlords and other agencies to ensure housing conditions are improved and grants are provided in a timely manner.&nbsp;

The post holders will be expected to be able to cope with multiple and changing demands, and to meet tight deadlines. A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation, motivation skills and flexibility are required to understand broad organisational cultures, advise, challenge and advocate to enable effective working across partnerships as well as being able to influence without direct authority.

Team Leader - Fixed Term Role until March 2026 
We are recruiting for a Team Leader, to work within the Street Homelessness Accommodation Team, part of the Street Homelessness Service. The Street Homeless Accommodation Team provide housing related support services to former rough sleepers across three distinct supported housing projects – Housing First, Dispersed, and Shared Accommodation. 
You will be an experienced team leader and will combine your expertise and knowledge of move on, safeguarding, managing ASB, housing related support, welfare and homelessness policy and legislation. You will help to manage a team of highly skilled employees including Housing Support Workers and Welfare Advisors, who are responsible for providing proactive housing related support to residents with a history of street homelessness. 
You will ensure the service continues to delivers support of high quality to our residents to enable them to maintain their homes and move on into suitable long term accommodation. You must have strong communication and creative problem-solving skills together with the drive and passion to help vulnerable people to live independent and fulfilling lives. You must also be willing to work outside of office hours on occasion, be able to work independently and have good knowledge of welfare, housing and homelessness practice.

Your mission:

<li>Design and deliver Arun District Council’s first Habitat Banking Strategy, in line with national and local policy.</li>
<li>Establish and manage habitat banks on Council owned land, working collaboratively across departments including finance, legal, planning, estates and parks.</li>
<li>Market and sell BNG credits, ensuring competitive pricing and a deep understanding of the habitat banking landscape and development needs across Arun.</li>
<li>Drive income generation through the sale of these offsite BNG credits to developers and other interested stakeholders.</li>
<li>Champion engagement by raising awareness and building partnership internally and externally to support habitat banking.</li>
<li>Explore wider ecosystem service opportunities, helping the Council lead on nature-based solutions for climate resilience and environmental enhancement.</li>
