Duties and Responsibilities
Support for pupils
<ul>
<li>Provide levels of individual attention, reassurance and help as appropriate to the pupil’s needs.</li>
<li>Provide information, advice and opportunities for pupils to establish a healthy life style through their choice of breakfast.</li>
<li>Be responsible for first aid (after training) in the event of accident or injury and provide documentation as required.</li>
<li>Help the supervisor to take appropriate action to minimise health, safety and security risks, which arise during Breakfast and Afterschool Club hours.</li>
<li>Provide advice and assistance as required (depending on age and ability) to enable pupils to develop basic hygiene skills, supporting pupils in respecting their own and others’ needs relating to health and hygiene matters</li>
<li>Promptly report signs of health problems to the supervisor.</li>
<li>Supervise children at arrival/departure and at other designated times in the Breakfast and Afterschool Club environment.</li>
<li>Recognise uncharacteristic behaviour patterns in individual and /or groups of children and report these promptly to the supervisor.</li>
</ul>
Support the Supervisor:
<ul>
<li>Help pupils to select equipment and materials relevant to the task they are undertaking and to use these safely and correctly.</li>
<li>Serve pupils with breakfast and advise the children on healthy choices.</li>
<li>Prepare and set up the breakfast serving area considering safety and accessibility.</li>
<li>Ensure that the area used by Breakfast and Afterschool Club is cleared up and ready for school use.</li>
<li>Update individual children’s records when new information is provided by parents/guardians, under the direction of the Supervisor.</li>
<li>Provide praise and encouragement to pupils to recognise and promote positive pupil behaviour.</li>
<li>Support behaviour management at the beginning, end and during each session.</li>
<li>Where necessary, correct behaviour to maintain order and discipline.</li>
<li>Report uncharacteristic behaviour patterns in individual pupils and incidents of inappropriate behaviour to the senior leader and to keep a record of such behaviour.</li>
<li>Deal with general questions from parents regarding the running of the club and possible available places.</li>
<li>Ensure that information for the school office is collected, collated and passed on as promptly as possible.</li>
</ul>
Support the Club

<li>Contribute effectively to team practice, identifying and sharing information on the opportunities for improvement.</li>
<li>Attend in-service training as required and meetings, including staff meetings, subject to working hours.</li>
<li>Comply with health and safety regulations.</li>

<li>Adhere to Breakfast and Afterschool Clubs procedures and policies.</li>

Business Support Assistant

The Service is currently in a period of redesign and given a changing environment, is looking at ways of working to better support the achievement of better outcomes for children and families. Why join the IRO Service - The independent Reviewing Service is responsible for chairing reviews for all looked after children and ensuring they have a Care Plan and that the Plan is quality assured and right for the child or young person. All looked after children (for the duration they are legally looked after) will have an allocated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) who ensures the plan in on track avoiding any drift and delay. Business Support will convene the first meeting and ensure that all the review meeting outputs are distributed within timescales.Who does the team support – The Business Support Services supports a number of Independent Reviewing Officers and is centralised Service within the Trust, offering a flexible support service, by, maintaining critical services to Children and Families is our priority.About You….You will be a ‘can-do' person, who is passionate about high quality service delivery and performance.
