Hastings is an ambitious, progressive and interventionist Council, and our Civil Enforcement Officers provide an essential and valued service at the core of our public protection and community safety work.

The successful candidate will undertake patrols and enforcement of enviro-crime and off street parking in order to reduce the incidence of enviro-crime, improve the quality of the local environment, and reduce fear of crime. The postholder will work in close partnership with other enforcement agencies such as the Police, and the Council’s other front line enforcement services.

At Hastings Borough Council we have a vision to create a better Hastings; a strong community, where our residents can enjoy an excellent quality of life in an attractive environment. We’re working to achieve this through the many services we provide, from regenerating the town centre and improving the cleanliness of our streets and beaches to increasing cultural opportunities and strengthening the local economy. We’re driven by a belief in fairness, a desire to tackle economic and social deprivation, and a recognition of the value of diversity in the town.

The ideal candidate will have a background in enforcement and working with the public.

Full details of the essential requirements for this post can be found in the job description. Appointment on the salary scale is dependent on previous experience.

The role requires the post holder to have Police Community Safety Accreditation Status to tackle local issues such as street drinking and aggressive begging. This requires passing the Sussex Police National Police Personnel Vetting Level 2. More information on the Community Safety Accreditation Status can be found here: https://www.sussex.police.uk/police-forces/sussex-police/areas/au/about-us/governance-and-processes/community-safety-accreditation-scheme/
