This post will focus on identifying HMOs which are breaching regulations
This newly created post is based in the Private Rented Housing Team. The post holder along with existing team members will be responsible for improving housing conditions in the private rented sector in Weston-super-Mare.
It is essential the candidate has a vocational qualification to at least Level 4 (or equivalent) in either Environmental Health, Housing or Building Construction and has significant experience of improving poor housing conditions in the private rented sector through the use of a range of enforcement/other options. A broad knowledge of the private rented housing sector would be expected.
It is essential the candidate is qualified to inspect properties using the housing health and safety rating system together with extensive practical experience of using this method of risk assessment as this role will be expected to provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the team.
Excellent communication skills are vital to deal with the wide range clients you will meet and you may be expected to represent the council at court and tribunal hearings.
