Team Manager - Edge of Care Service


Edge of Care safely helps young people at risk of entering care to stay with their families. We are training every member of every team to use our evidence-based, crisis intervention model and help families make significant, positive changes. Teams will provide intensive support to young people aged 11 – 18 and their families, usually over a period of 4 – 12 weeks.

The work builds on a family’s strengths and introduces coping strategies. It mixes practical support with strong challenge, to address complex and enduring needs. Team members engage young people and their families to defuse crises within the home. They assess problems, develop measurable goals and help the whole family acquire the skills necessary to achieve them.

Cases will span a wide range of issues including family conflict, absence from home, sexual exploitation and substance abuse. Working closely with other agencies and local services, you will actively champion a new approach that improves behaviours, relationships, confidence, aspiration, employability, living conditions and mental and physical health.

As Team Manager, you will oversee and coordinate your team’s cases and take direct responsibility for the most complex. You’ll manage resources, supervise and develop Project Workers. You will forge strong links with other services and promote positive relationships with the wider community.


A qualified social worker, your proven track record of working in services for children includes family support work, intervention, care planning and agency collaboration. You are a skilled leader with the ability to manage people’s performance and development.

A reassuring presence, you are calm in a crisis and able to work with families in their homes, helping them make changes and stay together. Crucially, you are a team player with a flexible approach, willing to work evenings and weekends.
