Trainee Solicitor

Job Title: Trainee Solicitors x 2 posts
Location: County Hall
Salary Range: Starting salary £24,799 p.a.
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: 2 year fixed-term contract, Start date November 2019

Job Duties:

Hertfordshire County Council has a large, Lexcel accredited, Legal Services team with an excellent track record of producing highly skilled and highly valued solicitors through our trainee solicitor programme. We are in a Shared Legal Service with Stevenage Borough Council, giving Trainees the opportunity to gain experience across all local government functions.

We are now able to offer two Trainee Solicitor posts to enthusiastic individuals commencing in November 2019.

Working in a dynamic and challenging legal environment you will complete a comprehensive two-year training programme exposing you to a wide range of legal practice in order to develop into a highly skilled solicitor. Trainee Solicitors will have the opportunity to undertake seats within a range of legal disciplines (both contentious and non-contentious).

We are working closely with colleagues across the County Council to support the Council’s growth agenda and for this recruitment round we are seeking proactive, adaptable and dynamic individuals who are not afraid of a challenge. Due to the increasing number and variety of projects requiring commercial, property and environmental legal support we are seeking candidates who are interested in practising in any of those areas and would like to consider careers in Commercial Law, Property Law and Environment and Infrastructure Law.

You will be: motivated, personable, adaptable; be able to demonstrate legal acumen, common sense and initiative. You will also be a confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.

You must have passed the Legal Practice Course. You should have a minimum of a 2:1 degree and it would be desirable for applicants to also have a minimum of 12 months relevant legal work experience.

For an informal discussion and more information please contact Francis Rice, Business & Practice Manager, Legal Services, 01438 845506
