Job Title: Senior SEND Officer
Salary Range: £31,371 progressing to £33,799 pa
Hours: 37 per week
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Hertfordshire SEND Service The post holder will be part of a team of Education Health and Care Plan co-ordinators responsible for the assessment and review of children and young people with SEN. Hertfordshire has been a Champion Pathfinder and this is an opportunity to join an authority at the forefront of working with families and professionals to implement the changes in legislation within the Children and Families Act 2014.
You will need to have had experience of working in the area of SEN within a local authority, school or college context and be able to demonstrate a broad range of skills and a willingness to work with other agencies to secure the best possible outcomes for young people.
As the senior officer in a developing team you will support the delivery of high quality services for children and young people with a broad range of special educational needs. This will involve working closely with parents, carers, settings and a range of other agencies, as part of a team with designated caseloads of complex cases. You must be a superb communicator at all levels. You will have excellent organisational skills, a high level of literacy and knowledge and experience of SEN in an educational environment. You will be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of appeals to the SEND Tribunal.
The role requires an understanding of law and procedures relating to the SEN Code of Practice and the Equality Act 2010.
