Deputy Team Leader Infrastructure Planning

Here at the London Borough of Havering, we are excited to be growing our Planning team. Over the next few years, we are embarking on a regeneration journey that will transform our borough, create high-quality places, connect our towns and bring opportunities for all. As part of this, we are recruiting a Deputy Team Leader for Infrastructure Planning.

In this vital leadership role, you will use high-level infrastructure planning and supervisory skills to support growth across the borough and ensure it’s delivered in line with the Havering Local Plan.

About The Role

Your key responsibilities will involve overseeing the delivery of all infrastructure projects across Havering. You will deputise for the Team Leader and assist in setting the tactical direction for your team and monitoring performance delivery to achieve both corporate and service aims. We’ll look to you to help ensure that all infrastructure planning projects are completed on time and within budget.

You will also support the Instructure Planning Team Leader to establish, develop and review structures, procedures and working methods for the Infrastructure Planning team to ensure an integrated, effective and efficient approach to the delivery of services.

To be successful in this role you will need strong planning and urban designs skills and several years of experience working with infrastructure planning issues in a large organisation. We will expect you to have a comprehensive understanding of planning and local government legislation and to be informed on the latest developments affecting planning and regeneration in London RTPI accreditation, or eligibility for it, is essential.

This is a supervisory role and we will look to you to work alongside the Team Leader to manage and develop the team to achieve the best results.

About Us

Havering is moving forward. Though we are the third largest borough in London, Havering is not as well-known as its Essex and east London neighbours. We are changing that. We have so much planned in Havering for you to get involved in – from transforming Romford Town Centre, extensive home building and creating integrated and long-lasting infrastructure to give our residents the services they need.

To invest in our borough, we know that we also need to invest in our people. We are looking for ambitious people who want to grow and develop their careers. In return, we offer great support and training to get you settled into your role, fantastic benefits and encourage flexible and smart working.

Our offices are a short walk from Romford station, which is on the Crossrail Elizabeth Line to and from London and are easily reachable by bus. We are close to the M25 and offer discounted car parking for staff. We are an open plan, friendly office with a great atmosphere.

Our people are as much part of our journey as the work we are doing – together Havering is going places.
