We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our Handy Person team. The Handy Person service is contracted by Derbyshire County Councilto deliver a range of small repairs, install assistive technology and undertake home fire safety checks, installing smoke detectors where applicable. The service is predominately for people over the age of 60 living in Southern Derbyshire. The position available is to work in districts across southern Derbyshire (South Derbyshire, Amber Valley, Erewash, and Derbyshire Dales)
This is a part time role working 22.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.00 – 5.30. However we can be flexible in the hours we are offering so if you think you could make a difference to our customers and their ability to remain living independently we would like to hear from you and we will discuss flexible hours.
You will mainly work alone, however there will be occasions when 2 operatives will be required to undertake work, i.e. moving furniture to facilitate hospital discharge. Operatives will be responsible for their time management, making initial contact with clients to arrange appointments and planning their journeys to ensure value for money is delivered.
What you`ll need to succeed
Experience of delivering repairs and handyperson tasks is required to be considered for this role. It is also essential that you have a full UK driving licence. Experience of working with vulnerable people would be desirable, but not essential.
To be successful as a Handy Person you must also be organised with excellent communication and customer service skills. As all jobs are recorded electronically a good standard of IT skills is required so should be included on your CV.
