Here at the London Borough of Havering, we are excited to be growing our Planning team. Over the next few years, we are embarking on a regeneration journey that will transform our borough, create high-quality places, connect our towns and bring opportunities for all. We know that to achieve our goals we need the best people on board, so we are recruiting ambitious planning professionals to join us.
Our Career Grade Infrastructure Planning Officer roles offer the chance to progress your planning career with us, no matter your current level of experience. We are recruiting at three levels; Infrastructure Planning Technician, Infrastructure Planning Officer and Senior Infrastructure Planning Officer.
About The Roles
Using a range of infrastructure planning skills, you will ensure that the growth and regeneration of the borough is supported. Depending on the level you’re applying for, we’ll be expecting different levels of infrastructure planning experience – details of which are outlined in the job descriptions. However, all our roles require logical and innovative thinkers, great team players and excellent attention to customer care.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for researching, planning and delivering infrastructure, in line with the Havering Local Plan. You will ensure that all your projects keep within budget, that potential variances are flagged and that other sources of income are correctly calculated and processed for your caseload.
Whilst the complexity of your projects will be dictated by your experience, you will develop and maintain the full range of professional planning skills required for your post. We’ll expect you to develop a good understanding of infrastructure planning concepts, to conduct primary research and to analyse, interpret and summarise large amounts of information.
Whilst RTPI accreditation is not required to begin our lower graded roles, you will need A-levels or equivalent qualifications that would allow entry onto an appropriate RTPI accredited first degree. You will also need to demonstrate an awareness for planning issues and developments, and an ability to read and scale drawings. Above all, you will show a passion for the work we are doing and the drive to keep communities engaged and involved in our projects.
Havering is moving forward. Though we are the third largest borough in London, Havering is not as well-known as its Essex and east London neighbours. We are changing that. We have so much planned in Havering for you to get involved in – from transforming Romford Town Centre, extensive home building and creating integrated and long-lasting infrastructure to give our residents and businesses the services they need.
To invest in our borough, we know we also need to invest in our people. We are looking for ambitious people who want to grow and develop their careers. In return, we offer great support and training to get you settled into your role, fantastic benefits and encourage flexible and smart working.
Our offices are a short walk from Romford station, which is on the Crossrail Elizabeth Line to and from London and are easily reachable by bus. We are close to the M25 and offer discounted car parking for staff. We are an open plan, friendly office with a great atmosphere.
Our people are as much part of our journey as the work we are doing – together Havering is going places.
