Career Grade Planning Enforcement Officer Lv 1: Planning Enforcement Officer

Level 1 - £21,591 - £25,809

Level 2 - £27,228 - £33,948

Here at the London Borough of Havering, we are excited to be growing our Planning team. Over the next few years, we are embarking on a regeneration journey that will transform our borough, create high-quality places, connect our towns and bring opportunities for all. We know that to achieve our goals we need the best people on board, so we are recruiting ambitious Planning Enforcement Officers to join us.

Our Career Grade Enforcement Officer roles offer the chance to progress your planning enforcement career with us, no matter your current level of experience. We are recruiting at two levels; Planning Enforcement Officer and Senior Planning Enforcement Officer.

About The Roles

In this vital planning role, you will utilise your planning skills and the practical use of enforcement powers to ensure our growth and regeneration are delivered in line with the Havering Local Plan.

You will be responsible for a caseload of planning enforcement investigations – the complexity of which will vary depending on your experience. You will investigate, evaluate and make recommendations on planning enforcement cases. Your day to day tasks will include drafting enforcement notices, writing witness statements, preparing papers for prosecution and dealing with planning applications which arise from your cases.

You will be expected to carry out site visits in an effective and tactful manner, gathering evidence to resolve cases. You will therefore need strong communication and negotiation skills. All our planning roles require logical and innovative thinkers, great team players and excellent attention to customer care.

Whilst RTPI accreditation is not required to begin our lower graded roles, you will need A-levels or equivalent qualifications that would allow entry onto an appropriate RTPI accredited first degree. You will also need to demonstrate an awareness for planning issues and developments, and an ability to read and scale drawings. Above all, you will show a passion for the work we are doing and the drive to achieve great results with us.

About Us

Havering is moving forward. Though we are the third largest borough in London, Havering is not as well-known as its Essex and east London neighbours. We are changing that. We have so much planned in Havering for you to get involved in – from transforming Romford Town Centre, extensive home building and creating integrated and long-lasting infrastructure to give our residents and businesses the services they need.

To invest in our borough, we know we also need to invest in our people. We are looking for ambitious people who want to grow and develop their careers. In return, we offer great support and training to get you settled into your role, fantastic benefits and encourage flexible and smart working.

Our offices are a short walk from Romford station, which is on the Crossrail Elizabeth Line to and from London and are easily reachable by bus. We are close to the M25 and offer discounted car parking for staff. We are an open plan, friendly office with a great atmosphere.

Our people are as much part of our journey as the work we are doing – together Havering is going places.
