Medway Council Landlord Services owns and manages around 3000 homes in the Medway area. We aim to provide excellent services to tenants and were recently finalists in the UK Housing Awards 2018.
We are looking for a customer focussed and highly motivated person, who has experience of working intensively with financially, socially or economically excluded people in a meaningful, holistic and person-centred way. We are looking to recruit someone who can create and maintain strong partnership links and work with multiple agencies to improve our tenants’ circumstances.
The Welfare Reform Team within our Housing Service is an integral part of our Income Management Team. As Welfare Reform Officer you will be responsible for your own case load, supporting a broad range of people to access the right services at the right time and supporting them to become more financially independent and with successful tenancies.
You will have a thorough knowledge of welfare benefits, particularly UC and housing related benefits and be available to assist our tenants and leaseholders. You will coordinate, support and mentor residents in areas including, but not exclusive to:
- Benefits advice
- Money advice
- Budgeting support
- Access to banking products
- Access to digital skills support
- 'Better Off' calculations
- Access to job clubs
- Training and housing advice
