Deputy Principal

Required for January 2020 or earlier if possible

Leadership 16-20

NOR 220

This is an exciting time to join Cambridge Park Academy. The successful candidate will join a strong, multi-disciplinary team, delivering cutting edge values and aims through a personalised approach that enables success for all learners.  Students, teachers, parents and professionals alike tell us how much they value our purposeful and supportive ethos.

Cambridge Park Academy is committed to join a Multi Academy Trust and are progressing along a journey to become part of a supportive Trust within this academic year.

Our students are at the centre of everything we do at the Academy. Our staff team is dedicated to the education and care of each and every one of them. We are a forward thinking and a rapidly developing Academy, focussed on meeting the challenge that every new student brings.   We support learners 3 - 19 with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Condition. Our provision boasts a 6th Form which provides learners with a strong preparation for their adult life. In addition to this, The Laurus base provides education to students with high functioning Autistic Spectrum Condition, providing individual solutions to overcome their challenges.

Following a recent Ofsted inspection in March 2019 the Academy is judged overall as ‘Requires Improvement’.  However, there were 2 areas judged as Good.  ‘Early years’ and ‘Quality of Teaching and Learning’. This is an improvement from a previous judgement of Special Measures (Ofsted Nov 2016). Significant headway has already been made in all areas highlighted by the inspectors and in all respects this is an exciting time to join the Senior Leadership Team. We have a newly established governing board who are committed to leading our Academy on our journey to becoming ‘good’ and then ‘outstanding’.

To support this journey, we are looking to appoint a Deputy Principal from January 2020 to join a forward thinking Senior Leadership Team.  The successful candidate needs to have the passion, vision and resilience to continue to move the Academy forward and to match the provision offered to the changing population. If you are a colleague with a successful record of outstanding teaching and inspirational leadership then this role offers an opportunity to challenge yourself in a new environment. Highly motivated and driven applicants should have the creativity and vision to inspire and support change with a focus on ensuring successful outcomes.

You will need a ‘can-do’ attitude that can inspire and engage learners, staff and our wider educational community. In return, you will be part of a strong team and will be given extensive support to develop to your full potential in this role and beyond.  The management team are fully supportive of and encourage creative practise.  We are interested in hearing from candidates who have special school or mainstream experience with a background in either primary or secondary education.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have knowledge and experience in providing a suitable curriculum to meet the needs of our learners
  • Have an insight in providing an educational provision and/or teaching students with Special Educational Needs and Disability
  • Have experience in staff management, staff development and coaching skills
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to listen to and respond appropriately to a variety of situations with a range of audiences
  • Have experience in handling pastoral and welfare matters including safeguarding issues

We welcome and encourage visits to the Academy, where you will have the opportunity to meet some of our staff, students, governors and leaders to learn more about our ethos, vision and journey.

The closing date for completed applications is 9am on Friday 20th September with interviews the following week.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure, satisfactory references and satisfactory medical screening.
