Horsham District Council are looking for a Wellbeing Advisor (Alcohol) to join our established Health and Wellbeing Team to specialise in supporting people through one to one work to reduce their alcohol consumption. This will be achieved through early interventions to adults (18+) who are drinking at Increasing Risk and Higher Risk levels, in order to prevent alcohol-related harm and possible future dependence on alcohol.
The Wellbeing Service is part of a county-wide programme across West Sussex to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent ill-health within our local communities. The service provides information, advice and signposts local people to services for help and support.
As this is a new service for the team the postholder will undertake developmental promotional work such as giving talks and attending events to raise awareness of the service and will take an active role in alcohol related health promotion campaigns. This post requires regular evening and weekend work. Full training and ongoing support will be provided to the successful candidate.
To succeed as Wellbeing Advisor (Alcohol) you will be highly motivated with excellent organisational skills and experience of working in a health setting providing lifestyle information and advice and behaviour change interventions directly to service users. You will have Knowledge of alcohol awareness and screening methods, have good interpersonal and communication skills, be reliable and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
You must have a full driving licence and have access to a car.
